About the Course

Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) studies the potential environmental impacts of a development project, any activity, or any legislative action. The Environment (Protection) Act requires such studies before proceeding with any project anywhere across the globe as per the environmental laws of the respective country. It is the assessment of the environmental consequences of a plan, policy, program, or actual project before the decision to move forward with the proposed action.

It aims to identify potential environmental impacts of projects, programs, and legislative actions and propose means to avoid or reduce the significant consequences. The environmental impact assessment was developed formally in the 1970s and has been incorporated into the procedures of governments worldwide to help decision-makers to make decisions about projects.

This 5-day interactive Environmental Impact Assessment virtual training course introduces fundamental concepts, essential knowledge, and critical stages in Environmental impact assessment processes. It will enable the delegates to understand environmental impact assessment concepts and discuss the mitigation of all environmental receptors in detail. The importance of public involvement in the Environmental impact assessment projects is clarified. Guidelines for writing environmental impact assessment reports are provided. The course presents several environmental impact assessment case studies, such as marine projects, power projects, and strategic EIA projects.

Core Objectives

The delegates will achieve the following objectives:

  • Know the principles and process of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)
  • Understand how to identify the impacts on the environment
  • Comprehend how to mitigate and manage the negative impacts on projects
  • Know the EIA practices in some countries
  • Acquire special conditions for environmental impact assessment projects
Training Approach

This training course is a mixture of lecture, video presentation, trainer-facilitated workshop exercises, and case study analysis organised through a Virtual Learning Platform anytime and anywhere.

The Attendees

Environmental Impact Assessment virtual training course aims to ensure those decision-makers consider all possible environmental impacts when deciding whether or not to proceed with a project. Decision makers need to be aware of the likely effects on the environment at the earliest possible time during the project's lifetime.

This virtual training course will be valuable to professionals, including (but not limited to) the following:

  • Environmental Engineers
  • Project Managers
  • Project Engineers
  • Civil Engineers
  • Construction Engineers
  • Energy Engineers
  • Managers & Executives who need to make decisions about significant projects
  • Engineers from different disciplines
