About the Course

This 5-day interactive Sustainable Project Management training course provides project managers with the frameworks, knowledge, and tools that are necessary to consistently incorporate and improve sustainability throughout the life cycle of a project. It will be possible for delegates to develop skills that are in high demand, which will enable them to advocate for sustainability while simultaneously fulfilling project goals on time and under budget and advocating for best practices.

Beginning with the fundamentals of sustainability principles, delegates will investigate how to initiate, plan, execute, monitor, and conclude projects while simultaneously minimising their environmental impact, maximising their social responsibility, and ensuring both short-term and long-term economic viability. This will be done to ensure the projects are successfully completed. Delegates will participate in interactive workshops that show practical applications across several industries by using standards from ISO and PMI, as well as thought leaders in the field of sustainability. Some of the most important topics that will be discussed include conducting life cycle assessments, calculating the total cost of ownership, analysing climate risks, defining sustainability metrics and reports, tracking reductions in carbon, water, and waste, increasing team engagement, acquiring environmentally friendly materials, transitioning projects while maintaining improvements, and continuously seeking sustainable project innovations.

Core Objectives

The delegates will achieve the following objectives:

  • Remember key sustainability definitions, frameworks, and reporting tools in a project context
  • Explain the dynamics of environmental, social, and economic sustainability in projects
  • Apply sustainability standards and practices across project life cycle phases
  • Analyse project plans and processes to identify sustainability impacts and gaps
  • Evaluate options for boosting sustainability in technology, resourcing, execution, and closure
  • Construct detailed recommendations to improve project sustainability
  • Utilise reporting tools and metrics to measure and monitor sustainability improvements
  • Acquire optimal sustainability solutions for environment, community, and fiscal longevity
Training Approach

This training course utilises an interactive training approach focused on experiential learning. Collaborative group exercises analysing real-world project scenarios will reinforce key concepts and theories. Delegates bring their insights as they assess situations, strategise solutions, and receive facilitator feedback. In teams, delegates will plan critical project management processes and create key documents like charters, schedules, budgets, and risk registers. Simulated projects allow applying project management tools first-hand for deeper comprehension. Project Management Software assists in consolidating learnings. Open dialogue is encouraged throughout, and various activities, team assignments, and hands-on simulations aim to engage diverse learners actively.
