About the Course

This 5-day intensive Project Management Best Practices training course provides a comprehensive overview of best practices in the project management field using respected Project Management frameworks and methods. Delegates will gain in-demand skills and knowledge to initiate, plan, execute, monitor confidently, and close projects, resulting in on-time, on-budget, and high-quality deliverables.

With Project Management fundamentals, delegates will explore core concepts like managing scope, stakeholders, communication, resources, schedules, costs, changes, risks, and quality. Dynamic sessions use interactive exercises, simulated project scenarios, facilitated discussions, and case study analysis to drive home real-world applications. The key topics include developing detailed project charters and plans; creating optimal work breakdown structures and schedules; assembling and managing project teams; building accurate budgets and monitoring financials; implementing change and risk mitigation processes; overseeing vendor contracts and procurements; conducting quality assurance and control; documenting lessons learned; and obtaining final project acceptance.

Delegates will explore project management process flows aligned with PMBOK and PRINCE2 frameworks. As relevant tools and techniques are examined, agile project management approaches will also be covered. They will gain insights into project management software applications to optimise workflows. They will be equipped with best practices and troubleshooting techniques to carry out projects while avoiding common pitfalls systematically. The skills and templates provide structure, predictability, and accountability to delivering successful projects on time and budget.

Core Objectives

The delegates will achieve the following objectives:

  • Remember and define key terminology, processes, and frameworks in project management
  • Explain core components of project charters, plans, and budgets
  • Apply methods and templates to create work breakdown structures and schedules
  • Analyse project documents, risks, charges, costs, and quality using project management frameworks
  • Evaluate project progress, issues, resource needs, and solution options
  • Construct effective project communications, change requests, and closure reports
  • Utilise PMBOK, PRINCE2, and Agile Project Management practices to manage project scenarios successfully
  • Explain solutions as project managers to address simulated project execution challenges
Training Approach

This training course utilises an interactive approach focused on experiential learning and collaborative group exercises analysing real-world project scenarios that will reinforce key concepts and theories. Delegates bring their insights as they assess situations, strategise solutions, and receive facilitator feedback. Teams will plan critical project management processes and create key documents like charters, schedules, budgets, and risk registers. Simulated projects allow applying project management tools first-hand for deeper comprehension. Project Management software assists in consolidating learning. Open dialogue is encouraged throughout. The varied activities, team assignments, and hands-on simulations aim to engage diverse learners actively.
